Sean John I Am King Of The Night - £34.26 for 100ml

This incredibly fruity, fresh offering is in stark contrast to the predictably gaudy, gold-lidded Sean John bottle. If you aren’t a fan of berries and oranges, you might want to give it a miss, but it’s an uplifting alternative to the usual heady evening fragrances.

Available nationwide.

D&G 1 Le Bateleur - £35 for 100ml

This eau de toilette manages to smell both aquatic and woody, making for a punchy fragrance. It’s designed to be seductive, though in reality the strong scent might require a pretty confident wearer.

Available nationwide.

Guerlain Homme Intense - £57 for 80ml

BEST IN TEST

This is a more intensely smoky version of the original Guerlain Homme, due to the inclusion of rum, rhubarb and vetiver notes. It’s a stylish, grown-up scent, and the bottle won’t look too shoddy on your shelf either.

Available nationwide.

Aramis 900 - £45 for 100ml

Originally released in 1974, this classic shows its heritage with a herbal, floral scent. Don’t let this, and the worryingly yellow colour, put you off though – it’s actually quite appealing.
