It has battery-powered elements in the back panel that heat up your core and help your heart pump warm blood to your extremities. There are three heat settings, low, high and boost (for when it's properly freezing), which you control by flicking a little switch on the side of the suit. The batteries that power the elements sit in an internal pocket next to your lower back and are small enough that they don't hamper your flexibility. As we said, it ain't cheap but it's hard to put a price on being able to surf in the UK all year round.
